Kiting in CR! Christmas 2013

It was 17 days of kiting in perfect weather and lots of wind.  Without phone or PC for the first two weeks...  I've seen heaven!

The spectacular downwinder from Playa Pappaturro, the double rainbows across the fullness of Bahia Salinas, the Playa Rihadda sunsets, not to forget the exceptional fellow kiters and all the good things that come from the commoradorie of people from around the world sharing the same passion, were so rich.  It was painful to leave that place, I must say.

This album does no justice to what the pictures are trying to capture (as is often the case with cameras vs. 'being there'), but I do hope that they will give you a sense of our 2013 Christmas/New Year break in Costa Rica.  There were others taking pictures as well, and I plan to contact them for any interesting ones they may have captured so that I can add them to the album over time.

Very impressive the take-off! Apart from the skill, does it need an oversized kite?

In fact, Valter, the stronger the wind the smaller the kite you use.  In 30-35 mph wind (50-56 kph) it would be almost impossible to fly a 9 meter kite because it would over-power the rider.  Rick is flying a 7 meter one in this photo.
