Snow and icy cold in the weeks gone by and rain for the following days makes me nostalgic of the warmth in countries like Guadeloupe (one of the Caribbean Islands). Since it is part of France, we flew 8.000 kms with Nouvelles Frontières and were sitting next to a nice French girl in the plane. She actually invited us to stay for our first night with her sister and husband. It is so warm there that in their beautiful big house, they had no warm water in the showers, since the water and the weather are always warm! Her brother-in-law told us what to see : we loved walking and walking among the beautiful forests and waterfalls and also went to the islands of Les Saintes.
I must have been to the second half then Lars. You were lucky and did not have any fog when walking to the top of the crater? When did you go there? Did you watch the first American cross-country world championships?

Lots of fog and mist at the top of the crater - felt like being on another planet. Breathtaking! I was there 10 years ago I think... Nope, did not watch that but will look it up.

The elite part that was run on Saturday instead of Sunday because of the flood was won by Sven Nys. There were five Belgians, all Flemish people actually, in the top 12 : 1) Sven Nys 2) Klaas Vantornout 3) a Dutchman, name mate of yours called Lars (van der Haar) 4) Bart Wellens 8) Niels Albert 12) Kevin Pauwels : not bad those Flemish cyclists right? But then I am just a tourist, not like these, nor like you at all!

I have been to Guadeloupe too and absolutely loved it. However, half of Guadeloupe is pretty spoiled and touristy, while the other half is amazing. Hiking up to the vulcanoe and around the crater is highly recommended!
