It's just NOT right!
That's the thing that owners don't seem to get Tom, all the damage done to the sport - the bad taste left in people's mouths watching the super rich squeeze players; other activities taken up during the lockout that find a more permanent place in fan's lives... You are the perfect example with your NBA experience. VERY shortsighted ("all about me") thinking...

So, how long will it take for the sport to recover? If they end the lock-out, will fans even care what happens this year?
I am more of a Basketball fan. And I know that I lost interest in NBA season last year.
I bet the fall-out from fan reaction to these lock-outs lingers for several years.
