Kayaking in John Pennenkamp State Park, Key Largo, FL

While Ron has been busy with his ICANN meeting, I kept up our work out routine alternating karate, runs and swims in the ocean.

This morning my friend Lori and I went to Key Largo to kayak in John Pennenkamp State Park (www.pennenkamppark.com), about 1 1/2 hours south of Miami.  Weather was a bit cloudy (which was good, would have been WAY too hot otherwise) but no rain.  We kayaked for about 1 1/2 hour through the mangroves, eventually getting lost at one point, but luckily finding our way back to the base via a narrow, windy channel cut through the mangroves where the only way to move forward was to propel the boat by pulling yourself through the plants as there was no room to paddle!  Pretty cool indeed!

After we dropped the kayaks we went for a snorkel by the sink hole, just off the beach, where you can actually see cannons from a Spanish ship that went down around 1750...the water was pretty murky and visibility was not great, but it was a pretty cool experience indeed.  Lots of people diving, seems a perfect spot for a diving school.

On the way back we stopped for a late lunch at Alabama Jack, the joint where Ron and I stopped on the way down to visit a friend in Islamorada...there were as usual tons of bikes parked outside and luckily I had our Rising Panther cards which I left on each one of them!

It was a fun day and a great spot, will certainly have to bring Ron to check it out.

Will have to go back with Ron
